Things to assist in the meditation

Meditation tips to help you on your journey can be important for most individuals that are either beginning to meditate or have been doing it awhile to designate a certain place to do it.

The meditation place can be a sacred space for you. Some find it very easy to get into their mediation with a special sacred space they make. It can be anywhere you want it to be. The backyard, bedroom, family room or just about anywhere you can tune inward. Just as long as you find your inner peace, safe and secure. Your meditative space can have a special chair, pillow to sit on or hold, an alter for your sacred things and just about anything you want to make it your space.

Things that you can incorporate to enhance your experience can be incense, candles, crystals, essential oils / aromatherapy, statues of your faith just to name a few. Make this space your own little shrine. You can put it aside or keep it out, this will all depend upon you and your living space.

When you find space, also find the time to meditate. Meditation does not have to be an hour. The time period for the experience can be as little as five minutes. It will all depend upon how much that you can give yourself. Some individuals find benefit for doing it daily. Before you go to bed or upon awakening. One thing that you will want to do is make sure that you will not be disturbed during that time. Also, you can relax. It is best not to drink caffeine or anything that accelerates your energy level during this time. Otherwise, you will not be able to be calm. When you’re ready to start to meditate make sure that you do not lay down to do it. Otherwise you may fall asleep. The state you want to be in is fully relaxed but not too relaxed, so you fall asleep. Try to sit straight with your spine straight is one way. Or you can sit in a somewhat reclined position. How I was taught was to sit on something that will have you relaxed but not enough to make you fall asleep.

You may find that playing music and allowing your mind to be still is your mediation period. Meditation can be you taking yourself on a guided journey or listening to a guided imagery meditation. You may want to experiment with each and see what you like the most. Things to enhance your experience: A white candle to light White sage the area you are meditating in to clear the energy.
